Étoile-sur-Rhône
Valence Romans Tourisme's Groups, Conventions & Seminars Department invites your group to discover Étoile-sur-Rhône, a pretty little village in the Drôme with picturesque sites listed in the inventory of the French Ministry of Cultural Affairs since May 08, 1972, not far from Valence. The village of Étoile has preserved evidence of the Roman, medieval, Revolutionary and Renaissance periods that shaped the town's urban planning. Some of the town's monuments, such as the 12th and 13th century Notre Dame church, are built of golden shell sandstone known locally as “pierre d'Étoile”. A history rich in anecdotes awaits you!
Chabeuil
Our service also offers your group the chance to discover the heritage of Chabeuil, nestled in the foothills of the Vercors and once owned by the Grimaldi family. A former Monegasque town in the Drôme close to Valence! Discover the village's must-sees, including the Hôtel des Princes de Monaco, the church of Saint Jean and the montée du Barda, the town hall, and right next door, the monumental gateway, a true emblem of Chabeuil. This imposing tower is the centerpiece of an ensemble of which only the porch remains. It is now a listed monument.
Châteauneuf-sur-Isère
You can also choose to discover the breathtakingly original troglodytic houses of Chateauneuf-sur-Isère. Chateauneuf-sur-Isère was the site of large-scale exploitation of molasse, a friable stone used for major medieval buildings such as Valence Cathedral and the town of Romans. Today, the village is best known for its troglodytic dwellings dug into this rock, typical of the region and known as the village of a hundred troglodytic houses. The site remains open to the public. This tour takes you on a discovery of the molasse mounds that house these troglodytic dwellings. Come and enjoy an unusual place in a mysterious wooded environment!
