Rue St Nicolas

The Saint-Nicolas district developed in the Middle Ages between the two city walls of the 12th and 14th centuries. It was thus the result of the first urban expansion.

A working-class neighborhood from the outset, in the 19th century it was also home to families of shoemakers, and in the following century to Italian workers and Armenian families who had escaped the genocide.
