Description

The layout and history of Montmeyran are similar to those of many villages on the Valence plain. The ruins at the top of the molasse hill known as Le Coteau are a reminder of the medieval castle and its surrounding walls.

Abandoned at the end of the 16th century, the new village was built at the foot of the hill, with a communal division between Catholics (west of the hill) and Protestants (east of the hill).

What to see
- Panoramas and viewpoints: from the top of the hill (serre de Meyran), remains of the medieval castle and Vierge du vœu (Virgin of the Vow)
- the lyre cedar
- Montmeyran is watered by the Pétochin, a 16.9 km-long stream, tributary of the Véore and sub-tributary of the Rhône. The Guillomont stream, which flows into the Pétrochin, has its source in the commune, to the south-east of the village. Another river, the Jalatte, also a tributary of the Pétochin, crosses the commune.
